Winnipeg Wedding Photo Locations

Winnipeg's Legislative Building

The Winnipeg Legislative Building is a very popular location for wedding and family photos. There is no cost to book this location and it is one I always encourge my wedding couples to book in case of bad weather (rain, snow, cold, etc). There are plenty of places to photograph in the Legislative Building, including the Grand Staircase which will be reserved for you for 30 minutes. Book early beacuse this is a very popular place to have photos taken (it's free, it has an indoor lcoation to get out of the weather, and it has great backdrops for photos. It also gets insane around grad season as well. The number to call is (204) 945-5813.

Winnipeg's Exchange District

The Winnipeg Exchange District is another very popular place for wedding photos, engagement and family photos. There are two different sides to the Exchange, offering two very different photo opportunities. There is the West Side of the Exchange District which includes, the big metal cube, loading docks, fire escapes, tunnels, graffiti walls, old cobblestone streets, and different coloured doorways. There is also the King's Head Pub, which is a great place to give your wedding party a chance to relax, have something to eat or drink. Then there is the East Side of the Exchange District, which has back lanes, painted walls, the river, walking paths, the dock, and Steven Juba Park. There is no cost at all to go here, however it can be very busy with weddings, locals, vistors, etc. Parking can also be a bit of a challange and you may have to park a bit further away than planned so make sure you have change with you too.

The Basilica (St. Boniface Cathedral)

This is another very popular wedding location for photos. There is really two places in one here, the Basilica itself, and the dock over looking the Forks, Human Right Museum and Esplanade Bridge. There is a beautiful walking path to the iron gate by the road, and back up to the Basiclica, arched doorways and stone walls. There is no place to get out of the weather if it turns bad as it is an outdoor location only. There is lots of free parking off Tache, but this can be a busy place during wedding season. It makes a great place not onlt for weddings, but engagements, family photos, modeling shoots, cosplay, etc. You do need to book a time slot and there is a fee to uise the location, it is $100.00 per hour and the number to call is (204) 233-7304. Here is a link to their site http://www.cathedralestboniface.ca/main.php?p=29.

Winnipeg's Hamilton Building

Located at 395 Main Street, the Hamilton Building is another very popular wedding location for photos. Parking can be a bit tricky, but there is a parkade in the back and if you're lucky you may find some on the side street such as Mcdermot Ave. The main draw to this location is the stunning spiral staircase. There is also a beautiful upstairs as well with a large half moon shaped window. The cost is $100 per hour and the contact is Dave at (204) 947-5934

I had the pleasure of shooting TJ & Courtney's wedding for them at the end of October this year. What a great day and what a great crowd. It was like going home and being with good friends...which they are. I shot 2 other weddings from the same group of friends who all recommended me to do their weddings. It is an amazing feeling being around this group of friends who I have got to know. I love it when my couples do that. Thank you. I shot their wedding at Bridges Golf Course. I never charge mileage either so they were able to get were they wanted without any extra cost to get me there. What a fun day and night. TJ even bought and partly restored an old 1940's car for his wedding. As usual, I was there shooting right to the very end of the wedding and finally made my way home close to 2:00 am. I am very happy I did because I got a ton of super funny and super fun dancing and party shots that really make the wedding. I love capturing those moments of the wedding when most photographers have been long gone hours ago. They miss out on so many great memories and moments. I love my job. Thank you again and congratulations TJ & Courtney and a huge thank you to Brock & Cheryl and Ian & Candace for the awesome recommends. You guys rock!
